The top representative of World health Organization in Tehran has expressed his appreciation for Irans efforts to fight against the novel coronavirus outbreak.
He says new cases in Iran are down mostly because of public support, imposition of smart social distancing measures as well as production of test kits and protective gear. The health ministry is leaving no stone unturned, testing every case of COVID-19 disease in medical centers and hospitals nationwide.
Because of the efforts to find every case, follow up with contacts and stop transmission, new cases of the disease continue to drop in the country. This is while the World Health Organization says smart distancing measures should remain in place to stop has the spread of new cases.
The United Nations has also expressed its appreciation for Irans efforts to fight against the novel coronavirus outbreak, despite sanctions and restrictions by the United States. It has expressed solidarity with the people of Iran, confronted with this public health challenge.
The Iranian government says figures indicating a slowdown in new cases show that the steps it has taken to curb travel and commerce are slowing the spread of the disease. However, the government also says schools, universities and religious-cultural centers will remain closed until further notice.
